Podcast #10

Posted in Podcast by Keith on September 1st, 2005 |

This weekend is an annual Labor Day tradition in Seattle that has always been a great time for me:

Bumbershoot.

So, to celebrate and get ready for what I imagine will be a great time, I’ve selected some great songs from artists that will be featured at this weekends festival. They’re all artists that I’m personally interested in, and while I think they provide a pretty good variety, they can’t really capture the diversity and energy that Bumbershoot brings to the city. As always, the information about the artists is below. Hope you like this one.

Podcast #9

I’ve got lots of good music this time, but little to say. I’ve been working my butt of this week and want to spend my Friday relaxing and listening to tunes. If you’re in the same mode, have a listen!

Also, before I forget, I’ll be away for a few weeks (wedding, honeymoon—you know, important and fun stuff) so there won’t be a podcast (unless it’s a drunken one from Mexico) until I get back. Have a great rest of the summer everyone!

A short one this time, it took me way to long to get this one produced. AudioHijack was not my friend this week. I also had to re-record a few segments. I’m still not too comfortable with how everything sounds, there are some points where I sound really stoned. Which is ironic because I don’t smoke at all. It’s probably because I had to do this one pretty late and I was really ready for bed. So you’ll forgive me, please, if this is a bit rough around the edges.

Ah well. In any case, I’ve got some great stuff this time though, leading off with one of my favorite hip-hop acts—The Bluescholars—and some killer music from Japan. Enjoy!

Wow. Six podcasts! I’ve got to say I wasn’t sure I’d get that far. But I’m having fun and I’m going to keep at it. Hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am.

So, this week I’ve got some great stuff for you. Seems like every week I’ve got one more avenue for finding good music that I can share. I want to thank everyone who’s helped out with tips and requests and encouragement. I know my audience is pretty small, but you guys (and gals) are the best!

This week’s show is a bit shorter than last week. There’s some great stuff in there though. With the CBC Radio 3 podcast coming out recently it’s given me a new way to find great new music. Thanks to Peter for hooking me up with that information. I’ve found some good stuff already.

As always, if you’ve got a line on some good music, for the show or otherwise, please let me know. Hope y’all like this one. I’ll be back with another in a few weeks.

Howdy y’all. Yes, I’m back with another podidlycast. This time I’ve got really great stuff for y’all. It’s been crazy the last few weeks, but I’ve managed to come through it with quite a bit done, a lot learned and some good music found and ready to share. I think this one is the best yet! Oh and I hope y’all don’t mind f-bombs. Adults (or really ornery kids) only on this one.

Enough blather, check out the ‘cast and, please, let me know what you think.

KEXP and The Death of Radio

Posted in Podcast by Keith on June 8th, 2005 |

KEXP, which is the only music-based “radio” station I feel is worth listening to at all, is in the middle of their summer pledge drive. It’s a time when, as listener supported media, they ask their listeners to become “members” of the station and donate some money to help keep the cogs running.

It’s actually a great time to listen also. You get to hear all sorts of testimonials from people who listen to the station and you get to learn a lot about how independent, audience supported media works and the struggles they face. See, with all the media consolidation going on, a station like KEXP is very rare. They don’t have advertising (although it wouldn’t bother me if they did) and they have the freedom to play the music they want to play—which is the key, and the reason why I hope they never go away.

Podcast #3

It took me a bit longer to get this one together! Sorry about that. I’m going to shoot for once a week, but I highly doubt I’ll be able to keep to that. I don’t want to burn out just when I’m starting to have some fun with this!

This time it might seem a bit awkward. That’s mainly due to the fact that I kept having interruptions. I try to set aside time to listen to music, pick some good stuff and record the podcast, but life has a way of getting in the way at times. Ah, well, the music is what matters and there is some good stuff in this one. It is funny to see how my voice and delivery changes as I record under different conditions. In this one you can really tell that it’s not done all in one sitting. Ah well, living and learning…

Podcast #2

Well, I’m back again, and only a little over a week later! This time I’ve had to look way beyond Creative Commons licensed music. Frankly it’s pretty damn hard to find explicitly CC licensed music that isn’t electronic in nature. Not that I’ve got something against electronic or anything, my tastes just fall all over the place and I hate to limit myself.

As far as I can tell everything in this podcast is “A-OK” to share, and I’ve got some great stuff for y’all this time around.
